These are a Few of my Favorite Things

As a Newborn Care Specialist and Postpartum Doula I have gotten to use so many products at all my clients homes. Sometimes I can make suggestions and give my secret nursery list to them but other times I come in for a short period and use what's available. Below are a few products I have found to be favorites of mine and I will share why.

Homedics Sound Machine

I use the white noise setting for sleep with this machine when it's time for naps of night time sleep. Turning on your white noise machine in your nursery will be part of your bedtime ritual that your baby will recognize. White noise helps to promote better sleep by drowning out noises in the home so your baby will sleep better. They fall asleep more easily and stay asleep longer. Babies will wake often due to sleep cycles. A white noise machine can help your baby get back to sleep and get more restorative sleep.

Miracle Blanket

The miracle blanket in my opinion is the best swaddle out there for your newborn. Swaddling imitates the womb and creates a calmness for your baby. The miracle blanket keeps arms in place while it allows plenty of hip movement as your baby is developing. I particularly like this blanket because of the arm flaps which keep little hands from coming up and out of the swaddle. When babies get their hands out it wakes them as they touch their face. It's also really cute when you take your baby out of the swaddle and they stretch their little arms up :)

Newborn Night Gowns

This particular brand is just an example. Boys or girls both need these as they will make your changing diapers in the middle of the night so much less stressful for you and baby. Often babies are not fond of being undressed at 3:00 AM and having to do snaps or buttons up the legs is no fun especially if you have your lights dim at night. Baby doesn't have the patience to wait for you to match each snap. A gown makes life so much simpler!
